Here for Atlanta,
Here for Good

The Y is so much more than a gym, we are a connected community and service organization. And now more than ever before, we feel the weight of our responsibility to our communities, the children, families and seniors we serve, and to you. Together, we will face these difficult challenges.

HOW THE Y IS HELPING...

For 162 years, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta has worked to meet the critical needs of our communities. Today, the needs are more urgent than ever. We have mobilized our network, facilities, and partners to launch three specific initiatives that are vital at this time: childcare support for healthcare workers, first responders and those on the frontlines of COVID-19; expanded hunger relief programs; and Operation R.E.A.C.H. to support members in high-risk groups.

Even as the Y reopens to members, our COVID-19 relief programs will continue to serve the needs of our communities.

CHILDCARE FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

From March through June, we activated many of our YMCA branch locations to deliver childcare for healthcare workers, emergency responders and those working on the frontlines of COVID-19. This program allowed hospitals, emergency services and essential businesses to remain fully staffed in order to protect and care for our community. Over three months, we had more than 3,000 registrations for this childcare service. Essential and frontline workers are now being served through Y Day Camps across the metro area.

HUNGER RELIEF

We are distributing meals for early learners, families, individuals and seniors at YMCA sites, expanding our food pantries and partnering to provide additional food distribution programs. In our first two months of expanded hunger relief programming, we distributed more than 100,000 meals to these in need. This number grows daily.

OPERATION R.E.A.C.H.

We have implemented Operation R.E.A.C.H. - Reach out, Encourage, Activate, Connect and Honor - to connect with and engage our seniors and vulnerable groups during this difficult time, offering resources and support to keep them connected and healthy.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

The Y can’t provide these necessary services without your support. We don’t know how long this crisis will last, and we need your help to ensure we have the resources needed to deliver these crucial initiatives for as long as they are needed. Here’s how YOU can help...
